The development proposition of the Musina-Makhado Special Economic Zone

Water scarcity is a fact of life in Limpopo valley. The SEZ requires millions of kilolitres to function, according the EIA. Where it will come from is the question.

The African Centre for Citizenship and Democracy (ACCEDE), with support from the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung South Africa produced a video clip that looks into this question and covers the following: 

1. Looking at Special Economic Zones (SEZ) against the broader backdrop of the global political economy and reconfiguration of economic power within the global sphere.

2. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process as a form of public participation green washing and justification of the zone.

3. Looking at whether the SEZ Mega Project may go ahead despite the detrimental environment and livelihoods impact as well as the public participation process phase that is still currently underway.
