Who we are: FES partners with those who strive to make politics and policies more progressive, feminist, anti-colonial and internationalist. We are an ally to those within trade unions, social movements, political parties and academia who share the social democratic values of freedom, equality and solidarity. We work towards a more inclusive political culture, gender justice, progressive social and economic policies, a just transition and a transformed multilateral order. We facilitate international dialogue through our network of offices in more than 100 countries worldwide.

What we offer: An internship programme for international students [none South Africans] for exactly 3 months (exact period to be agreed upon, in the period April – December 2025).  

The successful candidate will be exposed to FES SA’s working lines on democracy and political culture, social and economic policy, trade union cooperation and internationalism.

Tasks will include (but not limited to):

  • Assisting with research and conceptualising programmes
  • Compiling relevant content for the FES website
  • Assist with social media and photography  
  • Support with organising events (logistics, registration, record-keeping room setup)
  • Attending relevant meetings with partners and like-minded organisations
  • Support with facilitation at workshops, schools and related activities

Requirements: 

  • Completed bachelor’s degree and ongoing Master studies in social sciences (politics, international relations, sociology, policy studies or related field)
  • Identify with FES values
  • Activist experience or strong interest in social justice
  • Willingness to learn
  • A good command of MS Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
  • Enthusiasm and ability to work on own initiative, within a team and with a wide range of people, including internationally

The offer includes: 30 hours per week • 500 Euro monthly stipend
