When democracy thrives: Muckrakers and why they matter

The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung South Africa in partnership with the City Press invite Trade Union media representatives to join us for the launch of the African Media Barometer (AMB) and an accompanying panel discussion entitled ‘When democracy thrives: Muckrakers and why they matter’ on Wednesday, 27 March, 2019, 17.00pm for 17.30pm until 19.00pm at the City Press Auditorium, Auckland Park, Johannesburg.

The African Media Barometer (AMB) is an in-depth and comprehensive description and measurement system for national media environments on the African continent. The instrument provides a qualitative overview of the health of the local media environment as seen through the eyes of journalists, civil society and academics, and is based on a home-grown criterion derived from African Protocols and Declarations such as the Declaration of Principles on Freedom of Expression in Africa.
